Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-made shells that adhere to the front surface of your teeth. Dr. Newman will examine your teeth to determine the ideal shape, size, and color for your porcelain veneers. He will ensure that the veneers will give you a natural looking, straight smile that is free of gaps. These decisions will be made at one of your first dental appointments when an impression will be made of your teeth to ensure that the porcelain veneers will fit your mouth comfortably. At this appointment, your teeth will be filed down to make room for the veneers. This usually involves removing just half a millimeter of tooth enamel. At this time, temporary veneers may be placed while the permanent veneers are fabricated off site.

When the porcelain veneers are complete, you will come back to our office for the final placement. Your teeth will be cleaned with special liquids to prepare them for the bonding material. Dr. Newman will check the fit, comfort, and function of the veneers. If he is satisfied with the results, he will use a bonding material and a special light to harden the material and set the veneers into place. As a finishing touch, the veneers will be polished to blend in with the natural teeth in your mouth. In two to three dental appointments, we are able to provide results that are similar to those you would get from eighteen months of wearing traditional metal braces.
