Prepare Teeth

The abutment teeth on both sides of the gap will be prepared to support the dental crowns.

Impressions

Impressions will be taken of your teeth and gums. We offer digital impressions for optimal comfort. Before you leave our Nashville office, you will be provided with a temporary bridge so you won't go another day without a complete smile.

Dental Lab

The impressions we've taken will help guide the fabrication of your dental bridge. Your impressions will be sent to a trusted dental lab where technicians will create your bridge.

Placement

When your dental bridge arrives at our Nashville office, you can come in for your second appointment. Dr. Newman will place your permanent bridge on your abutment teeth and adjust it to ensure optimal comfort and fit. He will then cement the dental bridge in place.

Receiving an Implant-Supported Bridge

Receiving an implant-supported bridge will require dental implant placement and a healing period of three to six months. After your implants have fused with your jawbone, your dentist will attach abutments to your implants. After another short healing period of four to six weeks, you can return to our Nashville office so our dentist can attach your dental bridge.

Dental implants offer a range of benefits and may be the best dentistry solution for your needs. Dental implants prevent the jawbone atrophy that occurs after tooth loss, provide your bridge with a more secure foundation, and can last a lifetime when cared for properly. Our dentist can place your implants at our comfortable office in Nashville, so there's no need for a referral to a specialist.

Frequently Asked Questions
About Dental Bridges in Nashville, TN

How long do dental bridges last?

With proper care, most dental bridges last 5–10 years. Excellent oral hygiene and regular checkups can extend their lifespan even further. Implant-supported bridges often last longer, since they are anchored securely in the jawbone by dental implants.

Are dental bridges painful to get?

The process of receiving a bridge is generally comfortable. We use local anesthesia during any tooth preparation, and most patients report little to no discomfort. Mild sensitivity afterward is normal but typically subsides quickly. We can also administer sedation to help you relax in the dental chair.

Will a bridge affect the way I speak?

It may take a few days to adjust, but most patients quickly adapt to speaking with their new bridge. In fact, many notice that speech actually improves, since missing teeth can cause slurring or lisping.

Do bridges look natural?

Yes. Dr. Newman uses high-quality materials and advanced cosmetic techniques to ensure your bridge blends seamlessly with your natural teeth. Most people will not be able to tell the difference.
